Szilvia Szilber’s Presentations and Moderation at THT Conferences
Renewing the Conference Series and Sharing Practical Knowledge with Condominium Managers
Szilvia Szilber participated as a moderator and speaker in THT’s national conference series in 2022, 2023, and 2024. Her presentations addressed professional requirements in condominium management, cooperation among owners, and preparation for renovations.
Dén Mátyás András is one of eHÁZ’s creators and the owner of the company behind the platform, which has become a market leader in Hungarian condominium accounting and administration software. Since the early 2010s, his work has focused on using digital processes to support transparent, accountable condominium management.
He acquired the Társasházi Háztartás (THT) trade publication in 2022 to contribute further to the profession’s development through information and knowledge sharing. He also took over conference organization and brought new professional contributors and speakers into the programs. His aim was to raise the conferences’ professional standard further by inviting well-prepared specialists to share knowledge participants could use in their daily work. Szilber’s invitations to moderate and present formed part of this renewed program.
Venues in the National Conference Series
The national series connected events in Budapest with regional professional meetings. The organizer’s 2022 program pack included Kecskemét, Szeged, Székesfehérvár, Veszprém, Siófok, Győr, Pécs, and Debrecen. The announcement for the 2024 tour listed venues stretching from Győr and Szombathely to Debrecen.
There was a year in which Szilber delivered presentations at ten stops on the professional roadshow. Regional meetings were complemented by professional days in Budapest and Condominium Representatives’ Day events.
According to THT, five hundred people registered for the Budapest conference on June 8, 2023. At that event, Szilber moderated and gave a presentation on building trust with owners’ communities and cooperating with supervisory committees.
Moderation and Professional Subjects
The conferences featured banking specialists, lawyers, auditors, and experts in fire safety and building services. Subjects included renovation funding, technical solutions, owners’ resolutions, and financial reporting.
Moderation involved introducing presentations, connecting their subjects, and handling questions from the audience. The programs also included opportunities to consult exhibitors and specialists.
The 2024 opening program, for example, included Dr. Dén-Nagy Ildikó, Csizmadia Szabolcs, Banai Ádám, Lestyán Mária, Dr. Havas-Sághy Gábor, and Dén Mátyás András. Alongside her moderation role, Szilber gave her own presentation on the results of a condominium management survey.
The Knowledge Required to Run a Condominium
The 2022 presentation listed technical knowledge, financial planning, legal responsibilities, and communication skills among the areas of competence needed by condominium representatives.
This approach becomes tangible in everyday decisions. A necessary renovation needs a sound technical basis, costs aligned with the community’s resources, and a clear explanation for owners. Once a decision is approved, delivery must also be organized and monitored.
Turning Survey Findings into Practical Questions
The presentation of THT’s 2022 condominium management research examined both the profession’s situation and the problems facing buildings. The original material addressed financial constraints, deferred technical work, divisions within communities, and the conditions of professional practice. These were findings from that historical survey.
Financial and technical problems also affect a community’s decisions. Available funds shape the timing of renovations. Alongside selecting a contractor, the work must be prepared and owners kept informed.
The March 2024 lecture addressed findings from the 2023 survey conducted at the 14th Condominium Representatives’ Day. It brought communication, cooperation with supervisory committees, finances, and renovation decisions into a common framework. Considering the earlier and later surveys together drew attention to recurring operational questions.
Trust Grows through Transparent Operations
The 2023 presentation on building trust addressed how owners can understand and follow decisions about shared assets, and the role of cooperation between management and supervisory committees.
Communication and accountability remained prominent in the research material presented in 2024. Cooperation with supervisory committees, transparent operations, and financial understanding appeared as distinct areas for assessing condominium work.
The practical lesson concerns the community’s ability to decide. Owners can take a more informed position when they understand the background, available options, and expected costs. Orderly cooperation between management and oversight provides a more reliable information base for those decisions.
Communication Is Part of Management
Communication with owners is also a significant operational issue. The 2024 presentation gave particular attention to community communication and customer service channels. The survey material also illustrated the substantial role of communication in managers’ working time.
Well-organized communication connects an inquiry with its history, a responsible person, and the next step. Clear updates help owners distinguish between work already completed, matters awaiting action, and decisions requiring their participation. This shapes both daily administration and the way professional work is understood.
Planning beyond the Next Annual Budget
The closing recommendation of the 2024 lecture called for longer-term preparation of condominium communities. Szilber connected an explanation of technical condition and deterioration with work likely to be needed in three, five, and ten years. This gives owners more time to consider shared costs in their own household budgets.
Renovation requires connected preparation. The building’s condition must be understood, priorities and financial options clarified, and a clear decision placed before the owners. Delivering approved work then requires professional coordination.
Questions Running through the Professional Programs
Alongside legal, financial, and technical subjects, the programs repeatedly addressed decision-making and cooperation within condominium communities. Szilber’s presentations contributed survey findings and practical management experience to those discussions.
The practical question for participants was how to turn an identified problem into a prepared proposal, an approved decision, and completed work. Alongside specialist knowledge, this requires informing owners, financial planning, and organizing delivery.
Television Interviews and Press Coverage
The subjects discussed at the conferences also reached local media. Coverage from Székesfehérvár emphasized current technical and legal knowledge, while the Szombathely article highlighted the effect of condominium management on property values. Világgazdaság reported on the survey findings presented by Szilvia Szilber and the preparation of renovations.
